IWO Endorsed Candidates Were Successful on November 13

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Independent Women’s Organization (IWO) issues its warm congratulations to the following candidates who carried IWO’s endorsements and who won their races on November 13:
The members of IWO endorsed the following candidates:
Louisiana House of Representatives District 102: Delisha Boyd
Mayor of New Orleans: LaToya Cantrell
Orleans Parish Assessor: Erroll Williams
New Orleans City Council at Large, Division 1: Helena Moreno
New Orleans City Council at Large, Division 2: Jean-Paul “JP” Morrell
New Orleans City Council District A: Joseph “Joe” Giarrusso III
Each of these candidates was endorsed by the IWO membership at meetings held on July 31 and August 7, 2021. Prior to the endorsement meetings, candidates answered questions from IWO members at virtual forums.
IWO President Mary Griggs, in congratulating these successful candidates, said “The Independent Women's Organization is proud that our endorsements led to victory for so many candidates on November 13. IWO’s members take our endorsements seriously and we’re honored to help New Orleans choose who will provide leadership for the future of our city.”
Griggs encourages voters to turn out for the upcoming runoff elections on December 11. "Our elections aren’t over yet, because we have 4 City Council seats, Clerk of Criminal District Court, and the Sheriff’s race to be decided by runoffs.”
Endorsement Committee Chair Demetric Mercadel emphasized the importance of voter turnout on December 11. “We need all voters to remain engaged to ensure the best representation for our community,” she said. “IWO is proud to provide public forums and endorsements to inform the public, and it’s critical for voters to remain engaged throughout the election process.”
Early voting for the December 11, 2021 election will be November 27 through December 4 (excluding Sunday, November 28) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Voters in New Orleans may vote at New Orleans City Hall, Algiers Courthouse, Lake Vista Community Center, and the Voter Machine Warehouse on Chef Menteur Highway.
