TAKE ACTION

End the Filibuster

Our voting rights are under threat. At least 19 states have enacted laws that make voting harder for millions of Americans—especially for communities of color, lower-income voters, and people with disabilities.

It is imperative to expeditiously pass federal legislation to fortify free and fair elections against partisan manipulation—far too important to let that legislation be blocked by an outdated and arbitrary Senate rule. The Senate filibuster has an ugly history as a frequent tool used to block civil rights legislation. It should not be allowed to take precedence over preserving the democratic principles on which the United States was founded.

Despite public support for voting rights, Senate Republicans continue to use the filibuster to block the Freedom to Vote Act. It is time for reform. Please urge the Senate to do what is necessary to pass the bill with a majority vote and to safeguard the very foundation of American democracy.
